The Arena of Verona is famous for the Opera Festival. Nevertheless it has been the location for many years of many rock and pop concerts and from few years even musicals like the big success Cocciante’s "Romeo and Juliette", which will be destined to become annual event.
The acoustics of the Arena, which is already amazing for the opera singers who do not use the microphone, is perfect even for the powerful PA system of the rock concerts.
The sound is not damaged by the echo, as it happens for the big stadiums and it seems that even the most famous rock-stars feel the emotion to sing into an antique amphitheater, which dates back to two thousands years ago.
The concerts in the Arena transform into memorable performances.
Memorables are in fact the concerts of the Pink Floyd during the eighties or more recently the musical of Riccardo Cocciante.
Since this year it has been built Arena Extra, nearby the Arena Foundation.
Arena Extra is a service society that it has been created on purpose to manage the extra-lyric shows.
Verona will be able to schedule the shows in the Arena with more autonomy or in collaboration with the private corporations.
Concerts, such as the one of the Chinese pianist Lang Lang, the American jazz musician Herbie Hancock or Carlos Santana, are already scheduled for this year.
